How to permanently Wipe USB Stick
Portable devices like USB stick, external hard drives, SD cards, or thumb drives are very convenient for data storage, copy and paste personal data can be fast, now with USB 3.0, the speed can be even faster. What I'm try to emphasize is that, when disposing USB sticks with data in, it's better to do it before others made a copy on them, the copy clicks can be done in seconds. Although format or delete may seem to be safe for data, hackers will recover them with only a slight effort.
Wipe sensitive data in USB hard drive can be quite necessary, the most insurance method of keeping USB safe is to wipe everything out, erase all data on the device, and roll it back to factory settings. Unfortunately, wipe hard drive in Windows default settings is not an option, because Windows can only "format" and "delete" files, can't make it disappear.
Giving the right data wiping software, data on USB drives can be permanently erased, here're the steps to wipe USB stick:
- Download Macrorit Data Wiper, and install it with few clicks on NEXT; or download the portable edition, and double-click on the icon in the zip file to run it, no need to install, although it's small in size;
- Click removable disk in the main window, and wipe entire drive;
- Select an overwrite method in security column;
- Click Wipe Now, type Wipe and click Start.
