Extending NTFS partition, however, becomes anther headache after low disk space warning hits on the particular partition. The thing is, it's not difficult but troublesome to extend NTFS partition in disk management: backup, delete, and goes to extend step, those steps took so much time and there's not enough free space in other partition can take the backup file, even the compressed file of VMware folder.

Free partition size doesn't come out of air; it comes from other partitions with much spare space available, so in order to complete the extension job, we have to shrink partition on large capacity volume. Shrink Volume can be done in Disk Management, the effect is not intuitive, you can just type in volume size but you cannot see what it look like after resized.
